I’m not sayin’ nothing.

NOT talking about the vacant stare that comes from listening to something boring, or flipping a light switch. SolarTech’s Support Team wants to remind you that it is better to BLANK your message board than to turn it off. Here’s why:

  1. If you blank the screen, you can still connect to the board remotely. Turned off, it’s dead to the world and needs someone to physically go to the board to turn it on.
  2. If you blank the screen, you can still get a GPS read on the sign’s location. Useful for possible theft prevention, and just to know where it is.
  3. Faster re-activation. If you turn the sign off, you’ll need to wait for it to bootup to be up and running.

Blanking the sign will NOT use a lot of energy. Blanking the sign turns off the power to the sign and allows the controller to “go to sleep”…using about 3 watts of power. The benefit of being able to “wake” the sign, access it remotely and know its location is well worth the easily-recouped 3 watts.

DO turn off the sign when changing batteries!
