Nicholas Ipri, Senior Design Engineer for SolarTech, has taken and passed the IPC course for Certified Interconnect Designer (CID). The IPC (Association Connecting Electronics Industries, formerly known as the Institute of Printed Circuits) is the organization that develops and maintains the standards used throughout the electronics industry to fabricate and assemble printed circuit boards. IPC standards are generally regarded as the gold standard for PCB manufacturing and assembly by almost all in the electronics industry from aerospace and the military to automotive and commercial manufacturers.
Some of the topics that are covered in the CID course include the proper placement and soldering of through hole and surface mount components, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fabrication, managing thermal issues, and the various methods of testing bare PCB boards and PCB assemblies to maximize product reliability.
Nick has been with SolarTech since 2003. He earned his BSEE degree from Temple University and did graduate work at Penn State. Through continuing education and certification training such as the CID, Nick is able to keep up with the latest trends in technology and manufacturing techniques. This enables SolarTech to provide it’s customers with the most reliable and robust products available anywhere.
We realize that Nick may be the only employee to fully appreciate tombstoning, test coupons, solder wetting and “shake and bake”… but we’re sure glad that he does.
Congratulations, Nick!
