A K-band Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar designed to detect the presence of vehicles within a defined detection area.

A presence detection radar is installed near a construction access point alongside a short-range radio transmitter. When a construction vehicle enters the sensor’s detection zone, the radar activates a digital output, triggering a wireless signal to another piece of equipment positioned upstream. The receiving equipment can then automatically change a message board to display a warning such as “TRUCKS ENTERING HIGHWAY,” or activate flashing warning beacons mounted on an FBT-2000 with appropriate static signage, and return to its normal state after the triggering condition ends, according to the configured system logic.

This provides approaching motorists with advance warning of construction vehicles entering or exiting the roadway without requiring a worker to manually activate the signs.

SolarTech provides integrated sensing and traffic management solutions, not just individual sensors. Depending on your needs, we can integrate sensors into existing SolarTech equipment or provide a dedicated solar-powered trailer with the necessary communications, power supply, and mounting hardware. Use them for basic traffic data collection and monitoring, for remote surveillance, or integrated with SmartZone to automate traffic safety equipment based on changing roadway conditions.

What makes our ITS sensors different?

Complete Solutions, Not Just Sensors

SolarTech provides integrated sensing and traffic management solutions, not just the individual sensors.

On Your Equipment or On Its Own Trailer

We can integrate sensors into existing SolarTech equipment or provide a dedicated solar-powered trailer with the necessary communications, power supply, and mounting hardware.

Standalone or Part of SmartZone

Use them for basic traffic data collection and monitoring or remote surveillance, or integrate them with SmartZone to automate traffic safety equipment based on changing roadway conditions.
